--------------------------------
I would like to invite you to participate online in THE LOOM: FROM TEXT TO
TEXTILE prior to its opening on 29th September in Brighton, UK (see
information below)
It will take 3-4 minutes of your time and be enshrined in colour and yarn
forever. THE LOOM is a pilot project and the first in a proposed series
involving wide-scale human participation in the computer-based weaving of a
twenty metre textile.
To contribute to the pattern , go to the project website :
www.the-gifts.info/loom, click on 'participate' and follow the instructions
- all that is asked of you is to call to mind two people you love - one
living and one dead and give us their names, place and year of birth/death.
These will be stored in a database ready to be sent to the weaver's computer
on the 29th September. Any stories/comments about the people you tell us
about will be written onto red and gold ribbons and hung in the space and
eventually woven into a second textile next year.
Thankyou, and I hope to see you at the show or via silk and ribbon!!. Please
send this on to all who may be interested - the wider the cultural spread,
the more varied the pattern.

Birth and Death. Place and Time. Words and Weaving
The Loom transforms the significant moments of your life into thread
and colour and pattern. The Loom takes the events that we all share -
birth and death - and weaves them together to create a fabric of
life. The Loom is a space for reflection and connection. A place to
celebrate those who have come and gone by weaving their stories into
the space.
The Loom's first woven fabric is created in collaboration with ASF
WEAVE and Jon Bird.
VENUE:
Brighton Fringe Basement, Argus Lofts
Kensington Street, Brighton BN1 4AJ. UK
www.the-gifts.info/loom for further information, directions etc.
The Loom is a free event, no booking is required. A pilot project
supported by New Work Network, through Networked Bodies and supported
by the Arts Council Of England.
