http://www.caligraft.com is beautiful work, Ricard. Also interesting from a
typographic point of view.
i was looking today at the visual poetry of jim leftwich at
http://tinyurl.com/8b9l6 (the collabs with john crouse, if you scroll down)
and leftwich's work from his book STACEAL: http://tinyurl.com/cst99 . it
struck me that leftwich has quite a deep engagement with visual art (unusual
among visual poets) yet the language is usually not simply treated as image
(unusual among visual artists), and those twin engagements/concerns, and the
intensity of them are what makes his work important, i think, in poetry.
where would you locate your own concerns amid language and computation? are
you interested in visual poetry? writing? visual art and computation? do you
aspire to poetry? where are your aspirations concerning "computational
typography"? you've situated them in 'generative art', at least for the
purposes of this forum.
typographical concerns are common to people who use language in lots of
different ways. typography is of interest to people who only use a
wordprocessor to those who are poet-programmers. and to those who regard
themselves as designers. and many other types.
in any case, i really enjoyed perusing your work and the presentation of it.
thanks very much. your notion of computational typography is a good one.
definitely some mileage there. which is important to any idea.
